This picture was taken in the Bromo mountain region on the Isle of Java. These tribal communities living in little groups at an altitude of 1500/2400m above sea level. Almost all the people from the villages, includes women and children, work as farmers in the cultivation of onions and potatoes that is more resistant to these altitudes and with frequent volcanic eruptions. Production of onion is really important not only for the local communities; as a matter of fact the province of Central Java contributed 20% of Indonesia?s total red onion output in the last years.
