“I Am An Entrepreneur” Photo Competition
Competition Winners > October 2010
The SEVEN Fund is pleased to recognize our October 2010 winner for the “I am an Entrepreneur” photography competition.
Amit Muhkerjee
India
Mr. Muhkerjee says of the photo:
“This photo shows a little boy of a small village in West Bengal, India teaches some lessons from his book to some of his friends who are too poor to buy books. With his knowledge he spreads "One Can Teach One" to eradicate illiteracy.”
The jury chose this month’s winning entry because this photograph illustrates the importance of the diffusion of ideas in a globalized world to fuel entrepreneurship. Those interested in exploring the concept further should see the book Diffusion of Innovations by Everett Rogers.
Honorable Mentions:
Mukesh Kumar Dolia
India The jury admired the sweep and scope of this photo, though its connection to enterprise solutions to poverty was too tenuous to name it a winner.
Entrepreneurs create products, services and jobs. They expand economies, improve people's lives, provide employment (high and rising wages) and bring about competition. A competitive environment, in turn, gives rise to efficiency, meritocracy and further innovations and entrepreneurial drive.
The potent combination of entrepreneurship and technological innovation can forge an environment that is conducive to further enterprise, involving even government policy in supporting entrepreneurship and innovation.
