Andreata Muforo was born and raised in Harare, Zimbabwe. She came to the United States in 2000 to pursue her undergraduate studies at Grinnell College in Iowa. She majored in Economics and graduated with Distinction and was nominated to the Phi Beta Kappa Honors Society. After graduation, she moved to New York City where she worked as an analyst for three years in economic consulting in the Securities and Finance practice of NERA Economic Consulting. Her work involved providing analysis and advice related to highly complex business and legal issues to corporations and regulatory agencies.
Currently, she is a second year Stanford MBA student and is pursuing a career in international development. During the summer of 2008, she worked for Opportunity International, a global microfinance firm, on their newly launched education fund. As well, she worked with Project Healthy Children, a food fortification consultancy firm, in Rwanda to map the country’s food flows and increase awareness on the importance of food fortification. At Stanford, she is a member of the Board Fellows program and has a non-voting seat on the board of Village Enterprise Fund, a microfinance firm that gives grants to entrepreneurs in rural East Africa. As well, she is the President of the Africa Business Club; a co-leader of a study trip that took 28 Stanford MBA students to on a study trip to South Africa, Botswana and Zambia. She is also an active member of the International Development Club, Black Business Students Association and Christians in Business Club. She enjoys cooking, international travel, recreational swimming and spending time with her friends and family.
